   Dr. Pecoraro holds a Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology/Neuropsychology, two Masters Degrees in the mental health field and has been in the field of counseling for over 20 years. He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist, a Certified Addiction Professional and an Internationally Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor.


   Dr. Pecoraro treats a wide range of mental health and addiction issues. He is experienced in psychological, psychoeducational and neuropsychological testing and evaluation. Dr. Pecoraro has received numerous awards for his work in both the mental health and addictions fields. Some of his awards include Outstanding Professional of the Year from the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association and Outstanding Mental Health Provider of the Year from the Florida Mental Health Council. Dr. Pecoraro lectures on both mental health and addiction issues worldwide. He has published numerous articles in professional journals, magazines and has appeared on television and radio. Dr.  Pecoraro has been working with Hanley Center in various capacities for over 10 years and serves on numerous Board of Directors for non for profit organizations locally, nationally and internationally. He believes in "giving back to the community". Dr. Pecoraro was a Program Director and a Program Professor at Nova Southeastern University and currently is the Program Director and Assistant Professor for the Master Of Science Graduate prmgram in Mental Health Counseling at Springfield College, Tampa Bay Campus

   Judith Ann Pecoraro has been in the Mental Health Field since 1992. Before entering the Mental Health Field, Ms. Pecoraro taught Emotionally Handicapped Children for five years.  She holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from Springfield College.  She is a Certified Behavioral Health Technician through the Florida Certification Board and is currently working on her Masters of Science Degree in Mental Health Counseling.  Ms. Pecoraro's background includes 11 years of Case Management and Crisis Intervention facilitation.  She is experienced in counseling substance abusing clients and their families, as well as working with individuals that have domestic violence issues,  Ms. Pecoraro has been published in Counselor Magazine, was President of the Jaycee's (Junior Chamber of Commerce) in Clearwater, Florida and Secretary for Positive Expressions in Gulfport, Florida.  Positive Expressions is a non-profit organization working to empower HIV infected and affected individuals by developing and supporting their self-expression, and educating the public through the presentation of creative work. She has been recognized by various communities and organizations for her work in fundraising for Domestic Violence and HIV.

   Mary Jean Garcia joined our office in the fall of 2006 bringing her cultural competence expertise in treatment to the Hispanic/Latino community.  Ms. Garcia is also Adjunct Faculty in the Master of Mental Health Counseling Program of Springfield College School of Human Services, Tampa Bay Campus.  A native of Puerto Rico, Mary first came to the United States in 1970 and attended Barry University in Miami where she received her Bachelors Degree in Science with a concentration in Social Work.  After working in the public school system in her hometown of Fajardo, Puerto Rico for 1 year, Mary relocated to New York City pursuing graduate studies and receiving a Masters Degree in Social Work from New York University in 1977.  Prior to coming to Florida, Mary practiced in New York City for 26 years holding clinical, supervisory and managerial positions.  Most of her professional experience has been in the area of community mental health.  As a New York State licensed clinical social worker, she was a medical social worker at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn for 2 years, worked for the NY State Office of Mental Health for 7 years holding clinical and supervisory positions, and was the Director for Mental Health Services at the Puerto Rican Family Institute for 16 years.  Mary was active in advocacy work for the mentally ill and the Hispanic/Latino community.  She also served on the Board of the Association of Hispanic Mental Health Professionals for several years as an officer.  The Florida sun and warmth were a loud call and strong magnet and in late 2003 Mary and her family relocated to the Sunshine State.  Most recently, Ms. Garcia was a Systems Facilitator with Children’s Home Society in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  In that capacity, she intervened with complex foster care cases assisting biological parents navigate the dependency care system and facilitating their reunification with their children.  A committed mental health professional and proud social worker who approaches her work with her heart, Ms. Garcia is happy and excited to join the family of Dr. Carmine J. Pecoraro, Psy.D, and Associates.


 
Randy Ferguson

   Randy has many years of life experience.  He grew up in Virginia and moved to Florida 4 1/2 years ago.  Randy worked for The Watershed Treatment Facility as a Behavioral Health Technician.  He is currently employed with Genesis House Residential Treatment Center as a Primary Therapist.  Randy works evenings and Saturdays facilitating groups and individual sessions for our organization.  In his spare time, Randy attends Springfield College in Tampa, Florida to further his education in the field of Addiction Studies.

Joanne Willis

Board Certified Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner

 

   Joanne Willis is a Board Certified Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner specializing in Adult and Family Psychiatry and Mental Health. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami, and her graduate degree from Florida International University. She is a native of South Florida and has been active in healthcare as a nurse and a nurse practitioner for over 20 years, and has worked extensively with those suffering from the disease of addiction.

 

 

Mary Walker

   Mary Walker is a licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an approved supervisor for both disciplines in FL. She has over 25 years experience providing all aspects of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. Mary is creative and has been instrumental in designing many new programs to meet the needs of her clients. Mary has worked with many diverse populations including consumers with Mental Health diagnoses, Substance Abuse and dependence issues, Co-occurring disorders, Sexual offenders and victims of abuse.  She has worked with clients of all ages from children through the elderly.  Mary has also worked in different modalities including Psychiatric Hospitals, Detoxification and Treatment Programs, Co-occurring Disorders Programs, Residential Programs, Sexual offenders Programs, Partial Hospitalization Programs, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Traditional Outpatient Programs, and the Private Practice arena. She is experienced in facilitating individual therapy, group therapy, couples and family therapy. Additionally, she has provided consultation and training for many years. She is an adjunct faculty member at Springfield College , Department of Human Services in their Mental Health Counseling Program.

 

 

 

Mabel Thackeray

    Dr. Mabel Thackeray was born in San Salvador, the smallest country in Central America. Graduated CUM LAUDA as Licentiate in clinical psychology from the University Dr. Jose Mathias Delgado, 2003 and Joined the junta de Vigilancia as an International clinical Psychologist, JVPP 2517. Provided psycho- educational testing and therapy at private schools while working at private practice. In 2005 joined the American Psychological Association and became certified as a Group Psychotherapist. NY.Graduated with honors in 2007, from the University Nova Southeastern University, Fl. Lauderdale, with a Master in Science as a Mental Health Counselor. LMHC.-IMH6689. Dr. Mabel Thackeray has a broad experience working with different cultures and backgrounds facilitating psycho educational evaluations, family, & individual therapy. Dr. Thackeray has worked with private hospitals & non-profits organizations providing assessments and counseling to clients suffering from a substance abuse addiction. Currently working as a Family Counselor for the Broward County School Board as part of the psychological support services. Mabel Speaks English, Spanish, & Portuguese.
